Your eyes meet mine
As we stand beneath the stars.
Your emerald eyes,
That hold trust and love.
My sapphire eyes,
That hold sadness and ruin.
Your eyes meet mine
But it's for the last time.
Because I have betrayed you.
I have stabbed you in the side.
So why?
Why do you continue
To look at me with such

Hope
Trust
And such pure passion
In your eyes
When I have not returned it to you?
There's blood on my hands
And it's yours.

Tears of blood
Stream down my face.
I try to hide them
But they spread
Like a plague.
The pain is showing
All over my body.
The redness of blood,
Like a poisoned apple,
Has stained my skin.
My nails are caked
With the forgotten tears
Of those from the past
When I still cried
These tears of blood.
The red sinks into my hair,
Dying it the color of death.
I cannot escape it.
It is always there
Like a drunken tattoo.
Make these stop
I'm drowning in blood
The red sea is up to my chin
If I let out a scream,
I will drown and cease to exist.
Maybe that's the best.

Small feet walk across the shore

Causing her white gown to become tangled.

This poem is about the persona being so incredibly depressed. her heart is heavy with loss,suffering and sorrow, the hole is used as a metaphor to describe the emotions. She's has become so hopeless that she begins to believe that sorrow is a big hole, and even though she would try to end it all, she knows that it would never end, so eventually she has given up entirely.
